At its most basic, they turned a figure of affection into a symbol of hate who blesses precisely the cruelties that he criticized in scripture; this transformation occurred at a slower pace, across decades instead of months, yet it remains disturbing in the same ways, a confusing personal impact for numerous individuals.
A Toxic Christianity Establishes Itself

The apparent and direct truth that the Savior in biblical accounts advocates for a type of extreme compassion concentrated on the poor has consistently rendered the Christian faith somewhat of a scandalous religion: engaging for the general public, but owing to its inherent radicalness needing to be controlled.
